I in no way meant to indicate that Superman Returns has contempt for Superman. The gags I meant are the elaborate super rescues which I cannot spoil at this early stage.

As for actors' comments, there's no connecting an actor's process with the filmmaker's intention. They're completely different animals. I just report the news, I don't judge it. happy

As for the gay thing, the only reason anyone mentions the word is that the director of the film is out. Since I wouldn't call Superman Jewish if Spielberg directed it, it seems irrelevant to address a sensationalized campaign based on pundits who haven't even seen the film.

As for the young/older issue? That's an interesting point. I imagine if you grew up with Reeve, anybody in the contemporary age seems young. But the film truly fits in continuity and the people who have seen it comment that they felt like they were watching the same actor.
