With a new cast the A-Team is scheduled to hit the big screen in 2010. The original action quartet set the stage for an exciting adventure.

In 2010, another classic TV show is scheduled to open in movie theaters. The A-Team was a TV show based on four guns for hire that use their training and skills to protect the weak and innocent. Throughout their adventures, the team has to avoid the military that remains one step behind them. It is easy to understand the premise of the original show with a brief overview.

A-Team Background

The show begins with a summary of the events leading up to the team running from the military. During the Vietnam War, the team was given a mission to rob a bank. The idea was that this robbery would help bring the desired end to the war. The team understood their role and followed orders without fail.

After the completion of the mission, the team found their base destroyed and the commanding officer dead. With no one left to corroborate their story and prove they were following orders, the team was tried and found guilty for their robbery by the military. The team escaped and became soldiers of fortune, protecting those in need.

Breakdown of the A-Team

The A-Team is made up for four men; Colonel John Smith, Sergeant Bosco A. Baracus, Captain H. M. Murdock, and Lieutenant Templeton Peck.

  • Col. John “Hannibal” Smith serves as the team leader.
  • Sgt. Bosco “Bad Attitude” Baracus is the mechanic and team muscle.
  • Capt. H. M. “Howling Mad” Murdock is the pilot for the group.
  • Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck uses his con abilities to keep the team well supplied.

Overall Season Review

The A-Team survived for five seasons on TV. For most of these seasons there was little change to the formula of the program. The narrator and introductory scenes would present the story of the team. It was explained to the viewer that the team was charged for a crime they did not actually commit (because they were acting under orders). Typically, Hannibal would receive notice that there was a person in trouble.

The person in trouble would present themselves as someone that needed to be protected. Either by not having the knowledge or skill to fight against the threat or finding himself against overwhelming odds the person would seek the help of the A-Team. From this point the team would join together to fight for what is right.

Murdock resided in a mental hospital but would be needed to fly some vehicle during the episode. There would be a brief mission to free him which usually involved Face using his special talents of persuasion.

Once the team was together, Hannibal would devise and unorthodox plan that would eventually work in the teams favor. B.A. would build some amazing machines and weapons with basic scraps the team would find. He would also be needed at some point to fight someone, or some group of someones.

With all of the over the top action, the A-Team had the underlying moral lesson to provide help to those in need. Despite their tough exterior, the team showed a level of internal caring for their fellow man that is often missed in today’s society. It is easy to see that this spirit of brotherhood is not only worth remaking into a movie but that it is long overdo.
