With this year's fantastic portfolio of action films, it's no wonder many people have these titles at the top of their wish list.

This year the box office was taken by storm as action films heated up the silver screen. Gaining fans young and old alike, any of these films would make a great gift to a family or individual alike.

The Dark Knight

Following the lead of Titanic, The Dark Knight is astonishingly the second largest grossing movie ever to hit theatres. The sequel to Batman Begins, which hit theatres in 2005, one doesn’t have to be a Batman or super hero fan to enjoy this fun ride. With an excellent script, and extraordinary acting, Batman fans will love Heath Ledger’s portrait of the Joker as you’ve never seen him before. Considered by many to be the best movie of 2008, it is a certainty that this big name title will be showing up around Oscar time.

Iron Man

A super hero movie, this hero is anything but perfect yet you will find yourself cheering him on. Being a womanizing genius, Tony Stark is a cocky head of a weapons company designed by his father. After being captured and taken hostage in Afghanistan, he designs his greatest invention yet; an iron suit. Even though the movie runs over two hours long, all of the scenes feel necessary. This movie shows great growth in a character’s morality and was considered the first big hit of the summer.

Hancock

Another great super hero movie, Will Smith stars as Hancock. The plot takes an interesting turn when Hancock falls for the man’s wife.

A young man that finds his office job boring, Wesley finds himself out of element and suffering more anxiety attacks than ever when he is informed that his recently deceased father was an assassin. Seeking some excitement in life, and following his dad’s footsteps he begins undertaking training on how to become an assassin himself. Although very well received by audiences, this movie does involve many violent, gory scenes that some people may find offensive.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Director Steven Spielberg is back with yet another classic Indiana Jones film.
