The Dark Knight was a gritty, well-paced look at society and its defenders. It never skipped a beat and stands a a triumph among comic book films.

The Batman series had been stale for almost a decade before Batman Begins was released and sparked new interest in the series. Batman Begins presented the caped crusader in a dark, yet realistic world; this refreshing new take on the series was an instant hit and fans eagerly anticipated a sequel. Fast forward three years and the Dark Knight hit screens; it was a new breed of movie, excelling in every possible aspect. A strong cast of well known actors mixed with a strong script and plenty of action was Batman’s recipe for success.

Christian Bale Leads an All-Star Cast

Most notable is the caliber of acting; Christian Bale is perfect as Gotham’s masked hero; he has all the style and finesse of billionaire Bruce Wayne, and the rugged strength and zeal of Batman. Along for the ride are a long list of Hollywood superstars such as Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart, and Maggie Gyllenhaal, each of who deliver a gripping and convincing performance.

Heath Ledger Shone as The Joker

Where Batman really shines, however, is in its portrayal of the Joker, a villain originally made famous by Jack Nicholson in the original Batman back in 1989. Heath Ledger had big shoes to fill, and he filled them with a style all of his own. The young Australian actor presented with precision a deranged psychopath, finding joy in toying with people’s lives. His screen presence was made even more ominous by his untimely death shortly before the film’s release.

A New Involving Story in Batman

With all the characters in place, all that was needed was an involving story and Batman does not disappoint. The screenplay is amazing; it combines so many different issues into a single two and a half hour experience that it’ll blow your mind if you try to comprehend all its intricacies in a single viewing.

Multi-faceted Storyline of Dark Knight

This film delves deep into mob lifestyle, corrupt cops, international law, business ethics, social development, criminal guilt, and so much more. Not a single line is wasted, and not a single thread is left hanging. The finale itself gives a sense of closure, while leaving the door wide open for what is sure to be another impressive sequel.

The Dark Knight Delivers Plenty of Action

While Batman deals heavily with character and plot development, it is essentially an action film and every explosion resounds in beautiful surround sound. Fast-paced and furious, this movie never slows down. From the opening bank robbery, to overturning trucks, and even hand gliding through buildings in Hong Kong, it keeps the adrenaline pumping.

Conclusion

The Dark Knight never feels boring, and every piece of information is relevant and well-established. It has the perfect blend of story progression, unstoppable action, and character development. It is one of the greatest symphonies of film ever conducted, and probably the best comic book adaptation yet. The Dark Knight is a satisfying piece of cinema that will surely be a cult classic for years to come.
